项目介绍

Job description

The Department of Archaeology at the Museum of Cultural History is excited to announce a three-year position as PhD Research Fellow on the topic of rock art from the Bronze Age. We are looking for a talented researcher to help develop the Museum’s work on rock art.

The Museum of Cultural History is responsible for advising on cultural heritage management questions related to rock art, and for producing knowledge on the topic. More than 60% of all known rock art locations in Norway fall within the Museum’s geographical management area. We are looking for a qualified and highly motivated candidate to contribute to our research on rock art and it’s wider contexts. The successful applicant will have a project that activates material from within the museum’s geographical reach. This includes both rock art sites and also other forms of archaeological material (objects, archaeological sites and other material from excavations) which will contribute to giving context to the rock art sites. We are primarily seeking projects founded within Bronze Age research, which seek to expand understandings of the role of rock art in Bronze Age society through novel research questions.

The Museum of Cultural History is Norway’s leading research museum in the field of cultural history. We aim at strengthening the connections between the management of cultural heritage and interdisciplinary research to the highest international standards. See the museum’s research strategy and read about ongoing research

The University of Oslo encourages international collaboration, and we welcome projects that contributes to this. At the same time, we also encourage close collaboration with existing partners within our national network of rock art research.
