Department of Forest Genetics and Plant Physiology
The Department of forest genetics and plant physiology is part of Umeå Plant Science Centre (UPSC, https://www.upsc.se) which is a centre of excellence for experimental plant research and forest biotechnology in Northern Sweden. Our mission is to perform excellent and innovative basic research and generate knowledge that benefits forestry, agriculture, environment and society. We work across a wide range of disciplines in plant science reaching from cell biology to ecophysiology and from basic research to industrial applications. Our common goal is to understand the plants’ ability to grow, adapt and acclimate to a changing world and how we can breed better plants.
About the position
The long-term goal of our research is to understand the signaling mechanisms regulating plant growth and development (https://www.upsc.se/stephanie_robert). You will be part of a team that work at building a better understanding in the signaling controlling cell fate acquisition in Arabidopsis root. The candidate postdoc fellow will aim at dissecting the modes of action of positional information signaling in this process.
The project is a collaborative project including 4 different research groups and is based on cell biology including live confocal microscopy, molecular biology, microfluidics, electrophysiology and cell wall biology.
Your profile
Applicants require a doctoral degree in molecular, cell or developmental biology, or related disciplines. Furthermore, applicants should be proficient in English both verbally and in writing, and should have the ability to work independently as well as in collaboration with others. Experience in confocal microscopy, Arabidopsis, root development is of merit.
As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
