At the Faculty of Engineering and Science, Department of Chemistry and Bioscience, a position as Postdoc in the Medical Biotechnology Section is open for appointment from 15. August 2026 or soon hereafter. The position is available for a period of 21 months.
  
Your work tasks
You will be purifying, characterizing, modifying and designing extracellular vesicles (EVs) from bacteria. To test the effects of these EVs, you will be using the model organism C. elegans.  This work involves the use of classical genetics, transgenic reporter strains and proteomic and metabolomic profiling. The successful candidate will contribute to a collaborative research environment through mentoring MSc and PhD students and participating in teaching activities within the section.

Your competencies
Excellent oral and written English language skills are a requirement as well as interest in both research and teaching. The nature of the project demands that you must be able to work independently within a larger research group.

Extensive hands-on experience using C. elegans as an experimental model is essential, as well as proteomic and/or metabolomic profiling. Experience with transgenic reporter strains and phenotypic screening approaches is highly desirable.

Candidates should have experience culturing and characterizing complex bacterial communities, including the use of 16S sequencing approaches. Expertise with confocal microscopy, genome editing, and EV purification is of high priority.

Candidates with experience in developing biological assays, reporter systems or screening platforms in C. elegans are particularly encouraged to apply.

Qualification requirements 
Appointment as postdoc requires academic qualifications at PhD level.
