Your work assignments

As a PhD student, you devote most of your time to doctoral studies and the research projects of which you are part. Your work may also include teaching or other departmental duties, up to a maximum of 20 per cent of full-time. Within the division several different research areas are represented. In particular we have a group in Potential Theory and Analysis on Metric Spaces, which this project most likely will concern.

Your qualifications

• You have graduated at Master’s level in mathematics or completed courses with a minimum of 240 credits, at least 60 of which must be in advanced courses in mathematics; alternatively, you have gained essentially corresponding knowledge in another way. Among these 60 credits on advanced level at least 30 should consist of an independent exam project.
• You should have a big interest in fundamental research. As a PhD student you need to have a strong ability to work independently, drive projects forward and tackle new research questions as they arise. Furthermore, you also need to have a strong ability to collaborate with others.
• It is meriting to have international experience and a thesis relevant to the position.
• Applicants must have very good communication skills, both oral and written, in English.

Your workplace and employment

The position is placed at the Division of Analysis and Mathematics Education (ANDI), which consists of approximately twenty-five teachers, researchers, and doctoral students. Research in mathematics is conducted both within pure as well as applied mathematical analysis. The employment has a duration of four years’ full-time equivalent. When taking up the post, you will be admitted to the program for doctoral studies.
