项目介绍
PhD scholarship in engineering of carbohydrate active enzymes active to harness them as tools for synthesis of biotechnologically and biomedically important oligosaccharides in the Protein Glycoscience and Biotechnology group, DTU Bioengineering. This project, which is funded by Independent Research Fund Denmark | Technology and Production Research Project 1, is in collaboration with excellent national and international partners and aims at establishing a new strategy to engineer enzymes for synthesis of a variety of important oligosaccharides.
If your ambition is to 1) Work with cutting edge strategies for enzyme engineering with an international top-notch research team, 2) Innovate sustainable solutions to harness the most abundant and renewable resources on the globe, namely carbohydrates, and 3) To communicate novel scientific findings and solutions, then this is the right project for you to set up your scientific career
Responsibilities and qualifications
The overarching aim of your project is to develop and apply new approaches for rational engineering of carbohydrate active enzymes. This will be based on both molecular knowledge from X-ray structures and in silico computational technique and protein design tools, which will be key to the project. A short research stay at the lab of an external collaboration partner is expected in the project.
Your academic and personal profile:
- An academic record with a solid background in protein chemistry and biophysics is critical preferably within carbohydrate-active enzymes and/or carbohydrate chemistry
- Skills in bioinformatics and programming are major assets
- Hard-working, motivated, ambitious and aiming for excellence. In addition, you need to thrive both working independently and together with research teams within an international environment, where you will work with at least two different laboratories within the project.
- Open for contributing to teaching and undergraduate supervision related to your project
You must have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.
Approval and Enrolment
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU’s rules for the PhD education.
