项目介绍
The University of Gothenburg tackles society’s challenges with diverse knowledge. 58 000 students and 6800 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract researchers and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.
The Institute of Clinical Sciences is one of six Institutes within Sahlgrenska Academy at the University of Gothenburg. We conduct research and education that puts people’s health and quality of life in focus. We represent 16 different research areas and are divided into four sections. Through a fruitful collaboration with the healthcare and Sahlgrenska University Hospital, we have developed joint projects and meeting places that benefits both health care and research.
The Institute of Clinical Sciences, Department of Surgery at the Sahlgrenska Academy, University of Gothenburg, offers a strong translational research environment with close integration between experimental research and clinical practice at Sahlgrenska University Hospital.
The position is based at the Sahlgrenska Center for Cancer Research, within a research group focused on metastasis, metabolism, and stress response pathways in cancer. The group combines pre-clinical models with patient-derived data, with the aim of identifying novel therapeutic targets and with a strong desire to translate basic research findings into new and innovative clinical trials.
Subject area
Cancer Research
Subject area description
Investigating stress pathways and metabolism in cancer metastasis.
Duties
The postdoctoral researcher will investigate molecular stress response pathways and their roles in cancer progression and metastasis, using both in vitro and in vivo models. The work involves extensive laboratory experimentation, including molecular biology, redox and stress signaling analyses, therapeutic treatment studies, and cancer-related functional assays.
Responsibilities include designing and conducting experiments, maintaining accurate records and proper documentation of all procedures and results, and performing thorough data analysis and interpretation. The postdoc will implement new techniques as needed to advance the project and will participate in preparing scientific presentations and contributing to manuscripts.
The role further includes maintaining and developing collaborations within the group as well as with national and international partners. In addition, the postdoctoral researcher is expected to contribute to the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and graduate students, participate in group meetings, and support the overall scientific development of the laboratory.
Eligibility
To be eligible for appointment as a postdoc, the applicant is required to have a doctoral degree, a doctoral degree in art or a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be met before the employment decision is made.
In the first instance, those who have completed their degree no more than three years prior to the end of the application period shall be considered. Those who have completed their degree more than three years prior to the end of the application period may also be considered in the first instance if special grounds exist. Special grounds relate to leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, commissions of trust within union organisations, service within the defence services or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or service/assignment relevant to the subject area.
Assessment criteria
We are seeking a highly qualified and motivated postdoctoral researcher to join our group, focusing on cancer stress responses and metastatic progression. The successful candidate is a scientist with strong experimental and analytical skills, capable of driving research projects while contributing to a collaborative scientific environment. A completed doctoral degree in a relevant discipline, such as cancer biology, tumor therapy, redox biology, molecular medicine is mandatory.
The successful applicant is expected to have a solid background in cancer metastasis biology, and/or redox-stress signaling pathways, combined with extensive hands-on laboratory experience. Strong proficiency with core molecular biology techniques, cell culture, as well as experience with cancer-relevant assays, and both in vitro and in vivo cancer models is required.
Expertise in metabolism, epigenetics and/or bioinformatics is highly meriting, and additional experience with advanced microscopy and imaging techniques is beneficial. The ability to independently design, conduct, and interpret experiments, manage complex workflows, and compile and analyze research data is essential, together with demonstrated skill in scientific writing and excellent written and spoken English.
The position further demands strong self-discipline, a solution-oriented and organized work style, and excellent communicative and interpersonal skills. The successful candidate should be able to drive their own project while working closely with other team members and is expected to contribute to the supervision or teaching of undergraduate and graduate students.
Following the qualitative overall assessment of skills and proficiency, applicants will be selected who are expected to have the best prerequisites for implementing and developing current tasks as well as contributing to a positive development of the scientific group.
Employment
The employment is limited (temporary) for 24 months, 100% of full-time, and is placed at the Institute of Clinical Sciences, Department of Surgery. Starting date: as agreed.
