The Center for Translational Neuromedicine (CTN) is part of the Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen, and is located at Panum. CTN focuses on developing new approaches for investigating and treating neurological diseases, primarily using the tools of physiology and imaging coupled with cell and gene therapy. The center comprises modern laboratories and excellent facilities within neuroscience. CTN is a highly ambitious, collaborative research environment which currently has 50 employees and students and is divided into five labs.

Job description:
We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled candidate with experience with in vivo cellular imaging in rodents and the manipulation and validation of gene expression. Expertise in biosensor-based fiber photometry, EEG/EMG recording, and quantitative data analysis is also required.

Key responsibilities:
(1) In vivo two-photon imaging of cerebral cortex combined with electrophysiology
(2) Biosensor-based fiber photometry, EEG/EMG recording,
(3) Data analysis of imaging results

Profile of successful candidate:
Essential experience and skills:

  • Relevant laboratory experience in two-photon imaging of the live mouse brain.
  • University degree in neuroscience or other related fields.
  • In vivo two-photon imaging (virus injection, craniotomy, imaging, and data analysis).
  • FELASA certificate.
  • Excellent lab book record keeping skills and data file management experience.
  • Experience in spike sorting, good understanding of extracellular electrophysiology (EEG, units, LFP, CSD analysis, etc.)

Positively considered skills and features:

  • Data analysis & programming skills (Matlab, Python, R)
  • Experience in research on energy metabolism in glial cells
  • Experience in molecular genetic approaches to vasodynamics

Place of employment
The place of employment is at Center for Translational Neuromedicine, Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences, University of Copenhagen. Terms of employment
The employment is a full-time and fixed-term position. Starting date is 1 January 2027 or after agreement and until 31 December 2028. The position is a full-time employment.

The position is covered by the Memorandum on Job Structure for Academic Staff 2025.

Salary and other terms and conditions of appointment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant professional organization. There will be an opportunity to negotiate a supplement based on qualifications.

Depending on seniority, the monthly salary starts at approximately 39,950 DKK/approx. 5,340 EUR (August 2026 level). In addition, the employer will pay 18,07% in pension.

The successful candidate will report to Professor Maiken Nedergaard and Professor Hajime Hirase.

The further process
