项目介绍
The Mijakovic lab at Chalmers SysBio (Mijakovic Lab | Chalmers) is recruiting a postdoctoral fellow who will contribute to our Casein Mission project, aiming to produce food-grade caseins in microbial hosts. Our interdisciplinary and international group offers a supportive, collaborative and dynamic working environment.
About us
The Department of Life Sciences conducts research, innovation, and education to enable a biobased society and improve human health. We explore how biological systems, and innovative technologies can be used to convert biomass into valuable products. We use advanced computational technologies to discover how biomolecules and organisms function and interact. We pioneer new methods for prediction, prevention, diagnostics and treatment of diseases.
At the Division of Systems and Synthetic Biology biologists, chemists, mathematicians, and engineers work together with the goal of understanding and quantitatively describing the complex functioning of living organisms. We develop technologies that contribute to human and planetary health.
About the research project
Our group is a member of the NNF-funded Casein Mission consortium, aiming to produce food-grade caseins in microbial cell factories. The biggest challenge in producing caseins in microbes is to ensure that the caseins are decorated with the correct post-translational modifications (PTMs), such as phosphorylations and glycosylations. These are essential for calcium binding and food functionalities of caseins. We are looking for an expert in mass-spectrometry based proteomics who will work alongside our biochemists and microbiologists on detecting and optimizing casein PTMs .
Who we are looking for
The following requirements are mandatory:
- A Doctoral degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines. This eligibility requirement must be met no later than the time the employment decision is made.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Experience with the use of mass spectrometry proteomics for detection and quantification of PTMs (phosphorylation is a must, glycosylation is optional).
The following experience will strengthen your application:
- Experience with molecular biology.
- Experience with protein structures.
What you will do
- Prepare, and help others prepare biological samples for mass spectrometry analyses at dedicated proteomics platforms.
- Interact with the platforms whenever needed.
- Analyze MS data.
- Collaborate tightly with other consortium members.
- Contribute to writing peer-reviewed papers, and grant applications, if opportunity arises.
- Supervise MSc students if opportunity arises.
- If you are interested in teaching, it will be possible to arrange some participation in undergrad courses.
The position is meritorious for future roles in academia, industry, or the public sector.
Contract terms
The position is a temporary full-time employment for two years.
The position requires physical presence throughout the entire employment. A valid residence permit must be presented by the start date, otherwise the offer may be withdrawn.
