PhD scholarship in Metabolic Engineering – BRIGHT

项目介绍

Do you want to design the microbial foods of the future? You will use metabolic engineering, advanced analytics, machine learning, and fermentation technologies to create novel well-tasting sustainable meat alternatives. The project is a collaboration between Technical University of Denmark and University of Queensland in Australia and involves a 3-6 month external stay at the partner university. The project is funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation through an Industrial Biotechnology and Environmental Biotechnology grant. 

Responsibilities and qualifications
You will design and carry out experiments, analyze the data, publish the results, and present them at international conferences. You will participate in relevant courses equivalent to a total of 30 ECTS. You will also contribute to teaching of MSc/BSc courses and supervision of students. You will work in close collaboration with other members of the Yeast Metabolic Engineering group and many colleagues at BRIGHT Institute. 

  • You must have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.
  • You are scientifically curious, creative, and result-oriented. 
  • In your experimental work, you are efficient and generate publication-quality data. 
  • You have hands-on experience with metabolic engineering of yeasts. 
  • You are a team player and thrive in a multicultural environment. 
  • You have an excellent command of English and strong scientific writing skills. 

Approval and Enrolment 
The scholarship for the PhD degree is subject to academic approval, and the candidate will be enrolled in one of the general degree programmes at DTU. For information about our enrolment requirements and the general planning of the PhD study programme, please see DTU’s rules for the PhD education

Salary and appointment terms
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union. The period of employment is 3 years.
