About the position 

Applications are invited for a 3-year position in a Research Fellowship as PhD Candidate in Molecular Immunology to be based at the Department of Molecular Medicine (Anatomy), University of Oslo (UiO).

The Research fellowship is funded by the University of Oslo and will be linked to the research group “T Cell Activation and Autoimmune Disease” led by Professor Anne Spurkland. 

More about the position 

The fellowship period is 3 years and is devoted to carrying out a project entitled “Modulation of adaptive immunity: Signalling in experienced T cells”. The work will consist of experiments to explore the interactome of the adapter molecule SH2D2A, using a combination of in vivo proximity based labeling techniques, as well as immunological, genetic and proteomic techniques. 

The research fellow must take part in the faculty’s approved PhD program and is expected to complete the project within the set fellowship period. The main purpose of the fellowship is research training leading to the successful completion of a PhD degree.

The applicant must, in collaboration with their supervisor, within 3 months after employment, have worked out a complete project description to be attached to the application for admission to the doctoral program. Qualification requirements

• Applicants must hold a master’s degree (120 ECTS) in life sciences or similar, minimum grade B (ECTS grading scale) or equivalent. The master’s degree must include a thesis of at least 30 ECTS
• fluent oral and written communication skills in English 

In addition, the following qualifications will be considered positively

• Competence in immunologically relevant techniques such as flow cytometry including spectral flow cytometry, isolation of T-cells, assays for analysing T cell activation, immunoprecipitation and immunoblotting, fluorescence microscopy, experience with PBMCs
• Experience in gene technology methods such as PCR, DNA isolation, gene cloning, sequence analysis, mutagenesis 
• Experience in proteomics techniques such as mass spectrometry, production of recombinant proteins 
• Experience in cell culture work, including lentiviral transduction and CRISPR/Cas9 mutagenesis
• Experience in work with animal models (mice), including FELASA C approval 
• Experience in bioinformatic analysis (R, python, etc.)
