SDU NanoSyd at the Mads Clausen Institute, University of Southern Denmark, invites applications for a PhD position focused on advancing hyperspectral imaging techniques and exploring innovative applications using novel sensor technology. This research will include both theoretical and experimental investigations of spectral imaging modalities and analysis methods compared with other standard spectroscopic methods such as Raman and fluorescence spectroscopy.
The position begins on 1 March 2025 or as soon as possible thereafter. The working place is in Odense.
The application deadline is January 15, 2025, at 11:59 PM (CET/CEST).
The successful candidate will work under the guidance of Associate Professor René Lynge Eriksen, contributing to cutting-edge research in hyperspectral imaging and spectroscopy.
Candidates should hold a bachelor’s degree in natural or technical sciences and have completed a relevant master’s degree, ideally in optical engineering or similar.

Conditions of Employment
Appointment as a PhD fellow is a 3-year salaried position.
The monthly gross salary, including pension, is 35,707 DKR. Applicants with relevant postgraduate experience may qualify for a higher salary step.
Candidates must hold a master’s degree (equivalent to a Danish master’s degree) at the time of enrollment and employment, with employment contingent on PhD School approval for admission. The employment is governed by the Protocol on PhD Research Fellows as agreed by the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. Additional information on salary and conditions of employment is available upon request. The successful candidate will be enrolled at SDU in accordance with Faculty regulations and the Danish Ministerial Order on the PhD Programme at the Universities (PhD Order).

Assessment of candidates is based on the application material. Please include the following documents in English:
- Motivated application.
- Curriculum Vitae.
- Certificates/Diplomas (bachelor’s and master’s degree) – incl. transcripts of grades in Danish and/or English.
- Completed TEK PhD application form for 5+3 applicants. Find the form at the Faculty website.
- Completed TEK PhD form for calculation grade point average. Find the form at the Faculty website.
- An official document describing the grading scheme of the awarding universities (if not Danish).
- The application may also include:
- References, you’re welcome to use the form for reference letter at the Faculty website.
- List of publications and maximum 2 examples of relevant publications (in case you have any publications).
UPLOAD GUIDE: Motivated application shall be uploaded as ‘Cover letter’, Curriculum Vitae shall be uploaded as ‘Resume’. All other documents shall be uploaded as ‘Miscellaneous documents’.

Documents must not contain a CPR number (civil registration number) – in this case, the CPR number must be crossed out.
