Assessment criteria
The selection process will primarily take into account the applicants’ ability to benefit from doctoral studies. This is assessed against the criteria quality, quantity, progression and relevance.
Applicants should have their primary expertise in Judaism of Late Antiquity. Preference will be given to candidates who have also worked with Late Antique Christian sources or, in other ways, with Jewish–Christian interactions during the period approximately 200–700 CE. The terms “Jewish” and “Christian” are here understood in a broad sense, encompassing both non-rabbinic forms of Judaism and “non-orthodox” expressions of early Christianity. Projects that seek to integrate both textual and archaeological evidence are particularly welcome.
