PhD position in “AI for health”
Goal: There is an urgent, unmet need for reliable, intelligent systems that can monitor patients around the clock, in particular in the home.
Delays in recognition of the needs of a patient can worsen outcomes and increase healthcare costs.
Intelligent systems are required to address the needs of patients in optimising care pathways.
Are you the ideal candidate? We are looking for one or more PhD students to join the team who is eager to develop Machine Learning (ML) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods to improve automated diagnosis and our understanding of patient physiological trajectories, across a number of high-profile collaborations. You will be responsible for developing and validating algorithms for analysing time series from wearable sensor datasets (e.g. EEG) and/or pathology scans. You will be eager to become an expert in the field of automated and explainable AI and its application to the medical domain. There is substantial flexibility in aligning the research interests of the successful applicants to those projects that best suit their career goals and methodological interests.
You should have good grades in an MSc related to machine learning, computer science, signal processing, computational statistics, or cognate discipline. You should also have an interest in working in a highly interdisciplinary team. Proven competence in programming method in Python or similar languages are essential.
