项目介绍
If you have competencies in electrical power engineering and in modelling of power converter technologies and you would like to use those competencies for modelling of converter based units like wind turbines, solar PV systems and batteries in power systems, this PhD position is an opportunity for you.
The PhD will be performed in a university environment including an experimental research facility and industrial collaboration.
Responsibilities and qualifications
The driving purpose of this PhD is to develop and validate simulation models for grid connection of renewable Hybrid Power Plants (HPPs) combining wind turbines, PV systems and storage. DTUs experimental facility Risø HPP will be chosen as the scope of the modelling, and tests performed in Risø HPP will be used for validation of the simulation models in a real environment combining wind turbines, PV systems and battery storage. Grid operators request properly validated simulation models for converter based plants in order to permit grid connection for the plants.
You will work with a university team of academic researchers, engineers and technicians who will supervise your research and ensure that you will have access to test results from a real HPP environment.
Your primary tasks will be to
- Complete courses according to your study plan
- Develop RMS and EMT time series simulation models for Risø HPP in PowerFactory and PSCAD
- Participate in planning of tests in Risø HPP to provide real test results for the validation of the RMS and EMT models
- Develop, analyse and validate frequency domain models for Risø HPP
- Specify and apply methods for validation of simulation models based on tests in real environment
- Share your research results in meetings with DTU and external supervisors and project steering meetings
- Disseminate your research in conference and journal papers
- Co-supervise BEng, BSc and MSc students final projects
- Teaching assistance in relevant courses
- Guidance for visits to Risø HPP
You should possess the following key competencies
- MSc level in power systems engineering or similar
- Understanding of power converter technology and control
- Experience with EMT simulations of converter based units, preferably in PSCAD
- Experience with RMS simulations of converter based units, preferably in PowerFactory
- Experience with frequency domain analysis including Fourier transformation
- Awareness of IEC 61400-21 test standards and IEC 61400-27 modelling standards
You must have a two-year master’s degree (120 ECTS points) or a similar degree with an academic level equivalent to a two-year master’s degree.
