项目介绍
The University of Gothenburg tackles society’s challenges with diverse knowledge. 58 000 students and 6800 employees make the university a large and inspiring place to work and study. Strong research and attractive study programmes attract researchers and students from around the world. With new knowledge and new perspectives, the University contributes to a better future.
The department of Mathematical Sciences at the University of Gothenburg and Chalmers University of Technology is the largest mathematics department in Sweden with about 200 employees. The department has three scientific divisions, Algebra and Geometry, Analysis and Probability Theory, and Applied Mathematics and Statistics.
We have an international environment with frequent exchanges with other universities around the world. The department provides a creative and supportive atmosphere with a steady flow of international guests. There are many committed teachers with extensive and broad experience of all aspects of higher education.
Our department continuously strives to be an attractive employer. Equality and diversity are substantial foundations in all our activities. We work actively to be a parent-friendly organization.
More information about us can be found on our website: http://www.chalmers.se/math/
At the Division of Algebra and geometry, we conduct research at a high international level in areas such algebraic geometry, complex geometry, number theory and representation theory. We are now looking for a postdoctoral researcher strengthening our research in complex geometry.

Subject area description
This post-doctoral project is part of the project Singularities and families of canonical metrics by the Verg Foundation.
The specific subject of the postdoctoral project is the existence question for canonical metrics on families of Kähler manifolds, or vector bundles over them, in the presence of singularities. It is by now well-understood how to approach such questions, even as the equations vary, near smooth solutions to the equation. The aim of the project is to allow for singularities and develop a similar understanding of when one can solve the canonical metric equation near a singular solution. This is crucial for example for the compactification of moduli spaces. One goal in the project is to resolve this, at least for some model singularities. You are expected to collaborate with project leader Lars Martin Sektnan at the institution.
Experience with Kähler geometry and canonical metrics on Kähler manifolds, in particular concerning local classifications of the existence of such metrics in terms of a stability condition, is a main qualification for the position. Experience related to the corresponding stability theories (slope stability, Z-stability, and/or K-stability) is also a relevant asset.
Job assignments
You will be part of the research group in complex geometry. You are expected to independently develop new ideas in this collaboration.
If the candidate is interested, at most 10% of the time can be spent on teaching and supervision.
Eligibilit
The eligibility criteria for employing teaching staff are set out in Chapter 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance and in the Appointment Procedure for Teaching Posts at the University of Gothenburg.
To be eligible for appointment as a postdoc, the applicant is required to have a doctoral degree, a doctoral degree in art or a foreign degree that is deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree. This eligibility requirement must be met before the employment decision is made.
In the first instance, those who have completed their degree no more than three years prior to the end of the application period shall be considered. Those who have completed their degree more than three years prior to the end of the application period may also be considered in the first instance if special grounds exist. Special grounds relate to leave of absence due to illness, parental leave, commissions of trust within union organisations, service within the defence services or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or service/assignment relevant to the subject area.
Assessment criteria
Regulations for the evaluation of qualifications for academic positions are given in Chapter 4, Section 3 – 4 of the Higher Education Ordinance.
The assessment of your application will be based mainly on your scientific skills, and in particular skills relevant to the project as described above. You are expected to provide evidence of excellence in research. On the personal level you should be highly motivated and independent. Your ability to collaborate and communicate will be considered in the assessment. Fluency in English is expected.
