We invite applications for a four-year Postdoc position in Human-Centred AI at the Department of Computer Science (DIKU). We are looking for candidates who will lead research in an innovative project aimed at improving citizens’ encounters with medical services through AI. The project leverages public data and explores new approaches to human-AI alignment. As part of an interdisciplinary team, you will work closely with both technical and medical experts across research and the public and private sector. Your primary responsibilities include:
- Planning and facilitating co-design workshops with citizens, medical professionals, and relevant stakeholders, including collaboration with AI developers
- Designing and prototyping responsible human-AI alignment solutions
- Conducting human-centred evaluations of AI (including LLM-based) prototypes
The position includes contributing to and strengthening the Section for Software, Data, People and Society (SDPS) and the Human-Centred Computing section, including teaching and course responsibility for relevant BSc and MA courses. The SDPS Section’s research spans human-centred design to software and data management technologies, often in close collaboration with public and private partners. The HCC section‘s research spans collaborative technologies, human-centred AI, AR/ VR, health informatics, AI in education, and digital fabrication.
Outstanding applicants with a background in computer science or related field, and experience with human-centred AI in healthcare will be considered, preferably with:
- Documented experience across all phases of human-centred AI design in healthcare and other fields: qualitative user studies, co-design workshops, and prototype evaluation
- Experience working with medical data for digital health and AI applications
- Experience designing, developing, or evaluation public-facing technologies e.g. from industry
- A strong dissemination profile and public engagement of research
- Basic or higher Danish language proficiency

The place of employment is at the Department of Computer Science (DIKU), University of Copenhagen. It is a high priority at our department to foster a research environment of the highest excellence, allowing people from diverse backgrounds to thrive. As part of SDPS or HCC, you will join a vibrant and leading department with strong research sections in the many areas of computer science and with a cross-faculty educational program in Health Informatics. We are co-organising the UCPH Network for Digital Health as well as heading two centres within Artificial Intelligence: the SCIENCE AI Center and the Pioneer Center for Artificial Intelligence.
Terms of employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.
The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 4 years. The position is open from September 1, 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 39,200 DKK/approx. 5,250 EUR (November 2025 level). Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 18.07 % to your pension fund.
Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.
The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2025.
