The Institute for Implementation Science in Health Care IfIS is based at the Medical Faculty. Implementation science is an applied research field dedicated to optimizing the integration of evidence-based practices and research findings into routine practice to improve the quality and effectiveness of health care.
The research group of Prof. Lauren Clack Implementation Science in Health Care offers a PhD position, primarily involved in the citizen science and patient and public involvement and engagement activities (PPIE) of the ITINERARE project, a University Research Priority Program (URPP) focused on translational research for rare diseases.
The aims of the project are to promote public engagement with science, increase scientific literacy, and foster collaboration between scientists and the public. The objective is to ensure relevance and meaningfulness of research, to respond to the needs and preferences of patients and relatives directly affected by the health condition or healthcare intervention under investigation.
Specifically, this project aims to:

• Establish and strengthen infrastructures to enhance citizen involvement and engagement in rare diseases research and identify citizen-informed priorities research
• Develop capacity building materials for citizen involvement and engagement in research activities
• Evaluate the experiences and needs of families regarding neonatal screening practices for rare diseases
• Monitor and evaluate the impact of PPIE and citizen science activities

Your responsibilities

• Complete scientific qualifications for a PhD while working on the ITINERARE project
• Manage diverse project activities
• Coordinate project stakeholders
• Collect and analyze qualitative (e.g. observations, semi-structured interviews) and quantitative (e.g. questionnaire) data in the above-mentioned project
• Contribute to workshop activities
• Conduct literature reviews and synthesize scientific content
• Disseminate research results through presentations at conferences and publications in peer reviewed journals.
• Supervise and support undergraduate students

Your profile

• Master or equivalent degree in implementation science, health services research, public health, psychology, sociology, health economics, behavioral science or related field. MD-PhD candidates will be considered.
• Strong interest in keeping up with emerging trends and best practices in the respective research fields.
• Strong planning and organizational skills, excellent oral and written communication and effective interprofessional skills.
• Fluent in English and German skills.
• Self-motivated and comfortable taking initiative.
• Sound knowledge of empirical methods and advanced statistics.
