项目介绍
The Computational Materials Science group at KU Leuven is affiliated with the Department of Materials Engineering, section Nano- and microstructure design of materials, and the NUMA section at the Department of Computer Science. The group develops physics-based models for multiphysics simulations at the grain scales in applied materials and implements them into the open source software DAMASK (https://damask-multiphysics.org).
Project
The FULL-MAP project, funded by the European Union, develops simulation approaches, machine learning tools, and characterization techniques for the accelerated design of novel battery materials. KU Leuven contributes with the following two tasks to the success of this project:
1) Development and implementation of physics-based continuum models to predict the cycle life of cathode and anode materials.2) Training of a Large Language Model (LLM) that acts as a “co-researcher” in the pre- and post-processing of numerical simulations.
Depending on your expertise and interest, you will work on one or both of these topics.
Profile
- You have a PhD/Master degree in (Applied) Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering or Physics.
- You have experience in programming and a general interest in the development of numerical methods and their application in engineering.
- Excellent proficiency in English is required, both oral and written.
Offer
- We offer a full-time position for a postdoctoral researcher with initial duration of 12 months. Funding is secured for a total of 24 months.
- We offer a full-time position for a PhD researcher with a total duration of four years.
- You will receive a salary or a monthly tax-free grant. In addition, health insurance and social security will be covered.
- You will work in a supportive multi-disciplinary research team of engineers and scientists with backgrounds in scientific computing, computer science, mathematical engineering, material science, and mechanical engineering.
- You will be part of a consortium of research institutions, universities, and companies that develops novel approaches for the design of battery materials.
- You will build up research and innovation skills that are essential for a future career in research and development, both in industry and academia.
