The appointed candidate will focus their doctoral studies on management accounting, with a specific emphasis on digitalization and the digital environment. This includes exploring the use, effects, and infrastructure of technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), data analytics, big data, cloud computing, predictive analytics, and blockchain, as well as digital platforms like social media, digital marketplaces, and e-commerce, all within the context of management accounting. Ongoing developments in both practice and technology present numerous broad research areas to explore. These include, but are not limited to:

• The impact of digitalization on management accounting practices, such as performance measurement, budgeting, cost management, and profitability analysis.
• The role of management accounting in digital transformation.
• Ethical issues arising from the use of digital technologies and platforms in planning, control, and decision-making within management accounting.
• Changes to the tasks and roles of the management accountant, including new skills and competencies required, as well as changes in division of work and relationships between management accountants and other actors or organizational units with the adoption of digital technologies and platforms.
• The potential of digital technologies and platforms to enhance management accounting’s contribution to achieving sustainability goals within organizations and across supply chains.
• How the use of digital technologies and platforms in management accounting enhances and supports strategic processes, including strategic formation, formulation, and reconfiguration.

We value candidates with an interest in participating in teaching activities.
