PhD Candidate in Organizational Aspects of AI

项目介绍

About the position

The central theme of the PhD is the sociotechnical challenges for successful uptake of AI in industrial settings. While fascinating AI demonstrators, models and prototypes abound, the ones that make their way into everyday work routines in organizations are few and far apart. Beyond technical methods, techniques and models, innovation in and with AI involves addressing also organizational conditions for the uptake of AI.

AI research has till date privileged technical over sociotechnical aspects of AI. This PhD is part of an effort to address all aspects of AI with the attention required for its potential to be realized outside the research laboratory. The focus of the research is on the pre-condition for, mechanisms of, and strategies for uptake of AI. Addressing these challenges are important as, without them, AI risk remaining confined to research and experimentation, with only modest impact in private and public organizations.

As addressing these challenges are defining ingredients of the field of Information Systems (IS), and more broadly in socially informed understanding of technology, the PhD’s disciplinary home will be these same scientific fields.
