The applicant will conduct field work and plant disease diagnostics and analyze high throughput sequencing (DNA barcoding and metabarcoding) datasets to describe the diversity, relatedness, abundances and interactions for fungal and oomycete community-level studies. It is expected for successful candidates to lead all aspects of the analysis, independently coordinate the practical work and analysis and to write scientific publications in collaboration with the project group. It is also expected that the successful candidate will teach in courses and field training of practitioners (in Swedish).
Your profile
The applicant is required to have a Ph.D. in biology with a focus on molecular ecology or related field. Solid bioinformatics competence (e.g. in metagenomics, comparative genomics, and phylogenetic analysis) and good knowledge of R statistical software and multivariate analysis, FunGuild, FungalTraits, etc, is also required. The applicant must have at least 3 years of relevant experience analyzing DNA sequence datasets for ecological community studies and publishing results in peer-reviewed journals.
The candidate must be fluent in Swedish and English and have excellent written and spoken communication skills. Great emphasis on personal qualities such as ability to work in teams as well as independently.
A valid drivers licence is required for this position it will require travel to field sites.
As postdoctoral appointments are career-developing positions for junior researchers, we are primarily looking for candidates with a doctoral degree that is three years old at most.
